These dirty birds have a long (and soapy) journey ahead after being plucked from the massive oil spill in the Louisiana Gulf area.

Some brown pelicans were initially released in Texas, but Hurricane Alex forced officials to change their plans and airlift the pelicans to the Georgia coast instead. A second group of more than 70 brown pelicans is headed to Georgia for release July 1 after being cleaned.
