Hoschton goes for scarecrow record

The city of Hoschton in Jackson County is gathering 4,000 scarecrows in an attempt to set a world record of straw men.

Welcome to Hoschton, population 4,000 scarecrows, or so the Jackson County city hopes. Town boosters are trying to set a new world record by Sept. 1. The straw men (and women and children) will be display during the town's annual Hoschton Fall Festival Sept. 26-27. These guys greet travelers coming from the east on Ga. 53.
