Consider adding a birdhouse to your garden by purchasing a designer model or making your own birdhouse at home.

This birdhouse with a retro design flair was created by Sandy Abrams. Watching our little avian neighbors enjoy the backyard birdbath and feeder is one of life's quiet pleasures. But when night falls, they too need a roof over their heads.

The unique design of the Bird Guardian protects small birds and nests from predatory animals and birds.

Seen here is a collection of purple martin gourds. Natural gourds are often referred to as the original bird house. Today, they continue to be highly attractive to birds like martins. Their design makes them safe from common predators.

These young house wrens wait for food as they huddle inside their cozy nesting box. When buying or building a birdhouse, check for any sharp edges or materials that could cause injury. Make sure there's room in the house to build a nest and raise eggs. Never paint the interior or buy one that's been painted inside, as the paint toxins released in summer will be dangerous.
