On Wednesday a model showcases designs by Charlie Brown at the inaugural Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival 2008 at Martin Place in Australia. The festival is the first Sydney consumer event of it's kind.

Team USA gymnast Alicia Sacramone receives support from coach Marta Karolyi after she completed in the balance beam during the women's Gymnastics Team Finals at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing on Wednesday. Sacramone fell off the beam and the United States finished second in the event.

On Tuesday an Israeli man at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv embraces his young son on his return from war-torn Georgia. Hundreds of Israeli tourists spending their summer holidays in Georgia are being evacuated on special flights amid invading Russian forces.

USA's Michael Phelps competes in the Men's 200m Butterfly Final at the National Aquatics Centre during Day 5 of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games on Wednesday. Phelps finished the race in a time of 1.52.49 for a new world record.

The first of three Braves games with the Chicago Cubs was called due to rain before it started at Turner Field on Tuesday evening. The game will be part of a day/night double header on Wednesday with a tribute to announcer Skip Carey taking place before the evening game. Eleven-year-old female polar bear Anoki (left) plays with Magnet, a 19-year-old male, as Anoki makes her first public debut at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore on Tuesday. Anoki was born at the Seneca Park Zoo in Rochester, N.Y. in 1996 and then spent 10 years at the Albuquerque Biological Park before she was moved to Maryland.

A Perseid meteor streaks across the sky early Tuesday near Rogers Spring in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Nev. The meteor display is known as the Perseid shower because it appears to radiate from the constellation Perseus in the northeastern sky, and is a result of Earth's orbit passing through debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle.
