America's general retiring

This week Russel Honore, the 60-year-old lieutenant general, will step aside, relinquishing command of the Fort Gillem-based First Army.

September 2005: Lt. Gen. Russel Honore, commander of Joint Task Force Katrina, lights up a cigar at the command post set up in downtown New Orleans. Two days after the hurricane struck Louisiana, President Bush called on Honorÿ©, a decorated three-star Army general based at Fort Gillem.

September 2005: Honore yells to his troops as a convoy of food and water arrives in New Orleans.
