Investigators interviewed a “person of interest” late Tuesday about the hit-and-run that killed a 13-year-old boy in Coweta County.

They are now running down other leads in their search for the driver of the pickup truck suspected of hitting Parker Madliak, Sgt. Mike Adcock of the Georgia State Patrol told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“We’re working some leads and putting it together as we speak,” he said. “It has been great about how fast it has been coming together.”

Madliak was found around 1 a.m. Tuesday along Welcome Sargent Road in Newnan. Authorities matched debris to a Ford-150 pickup truck, model year 2004-08, and were looking for one with damage to the passenger side headlight, Adcock said.

Coweta sheriff's Lt. Col. James Yarbrough told the Newnan Times-Herald that Madliak was walking home from a friend's house sometime after 10 p.m. Monday when the truck hit and killed him. He was a student at Evans Middle School, according to the newspaper.

Anyone with information on the truck is asked to call the GSP at 770-254-7201 or Coweta sheriff’s investigators at 770-253-1502.
