No students were on a DeKalb County school bus that overturned Monday morning near Lithonia, authorities said.

The bus flipped onto its side before 9 a.m. on Browns Mill Road just west of Flat Rock Road.

Two adults on the bus suffered only minor injuries, and were able to climb out of the wreckage on their own, according to DeKalb fire and police officials.

A spokesman for DeKalb schools told Channel 2 Action News that the special needs bus overturned when the driver swerved to avoid a deer.
