The Rev. Mike McClure Jr., pastor of the Rock City Church in Birmingham and a gospel recording artist known as Pastor Mike Jr., will be the featured guest at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday.

The Stonecrest megachurch will hold its pull-up worship service at 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot of 6400 Woodrow Road.

There will also be a special appearance from Praise 102.5′s Darlene McCoy.

Like many places of worship New Birth has been livestreaming or holding outdoor services. Some churches have gone back in the sanctuary, but the recent spike of COVID-19 cases has forced many to rethink that decision or to follow strict protocols such as requiring masks, advance registration to attend services or even requiring proof of full vaccination.

“We made a deliberate shift in our reopening plans that initially included returning to limited in-person services,” Senior Pastor Jamal Harrison Bryant said in a release about the event. “The sobering reality is that there are still so many people who need access to the vaccine. As we continue to monitor the COVID-19 crisis, we will continue to work outside the four walls of the church to provide ongoing opportunities for vaccinations.”

A number of local food trucks and vendors will also be at the site.
