One person was killed when a fire ripped through a southwest Atlanta home Sunday evening, according to investigators.

Firefighters arrived shortly after 7 p.m. to find heavy fire and smoke showing from an Oak Drive home, the Atlanta fire department said. After containing the blaze, firefighters located the victim covered by debris.

The victim has not yet been identified.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
