A 23-year-old man was killed and two other were were wounded in an overnight shooting in DeKalb County, police said.

DeKalb police Lt. Mark Lavigne said the shooting happened off South Deshon Road near Lithonia.

He said the victims, who were in a black Dodge Neon, “pulled off to a side street, where they were approached by an individual and gunshots erupted from that individual.”

He said a woman in the car was able to drive the three to the emergency room at nearby DeKalb Medical Hillendale despite being shot in the leg.

Two men in the car were seriously injured and were transferred to Grady Memorial Hospital, where one of the men later died. The second man, 27, was in critical condition, “but it appears he is going to survive,” Lavigne told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

He said the 21-year-old woman was transferred to Atlanta Medical Center and “is going to be OK.”

Their names were not immediately available.

Lavigne said detectives had not determined a motive for the shooting.
