An off-duty Atlanta police officer was seriously injured Monday night in a two-vehicle crash on I-85 northbound, according to Gwinnett County police.

The officer, whose name was not released, was on his city-issued motorcycle at the time of the crash, which happened near Beaver Ruin Road, according to Cpl. Jake Smith with Gwinnett police. Another vehicle was involved in the crash, but details on the collision were not available late Monday.

The officer was taken by ambulance to Gwinnett Medical Center with serious injuries, but was conscious, Officer John Chafee with Atlanta police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
