Vernetta Mildred Winter, age 99, died peacefully in her home in Sandy Springs, Georgia on September 8, 2021. She was in the loving company of her family, and would have been 100 years old on October 20, 2021.
Vernetta is survived by her sister June Grant of Des Plains, Illinois. She will also be remembered by her three surviving children and their spouses: Jay Winter and wife Cheryl Winter of Powhatan, VA, Robin Winter and husband Bill Mantone of Beverly, MA, and Wendy Arsenault and husband John Arsenault of Sandy Springs, GA. Her son Kevin Winter died in 2015, survived by wife Evelyn Winter. Vernetta was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Vernetta's ashes will be interred next to those of her late husband, Robert J. Winter, in the Marietta National Cemetery, in Marietta, GA. The family will announce the time and place of a small memorial gathering at a later date.
