Mr. Allen Rice, age 81 of Smyrna, passed away October 17, 2021. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 25 at 2 PM at The Church of The Apostles. The son of William Melvin Rice and Betsy Morrison Rice, a church organist, Mr. Rice was an avid singer, starting at the age of 3. As an adult, Mr. Rice formed and sang in the group Covenant. After graduating from Pfeiffer College, Mr. Rice served in the US Army as a Chaplain's assistant. Mr. Rice was a member of Cursillo serving on the board for many years and an active member of The Church of The Apostles, serving as a Stephen Minister and ministering through Grief Share. Mr. Rice is survived by his wife Iris, daughter Shannon (Ed) Rice Adams of Connecticut, son Brandon (Rachel) Rice of Marietta, stepchildren Shannon (Nicholas) Works Moavero of Brooks, GA, Brandon Works (Christine Danielson) of Damascus, OR, grandson Ethan Rice of Marietta.
