Preddy, Elizabeth

PREDDY, Elizabeth
Mary Elizabeth Preddy, of Chapel Hill, NC, passed away in her home with family members by her side on December 29, 2020 following a lengthy, non-Covid related, illness.
Elizabeth was born October 1, 1945 in Roanoke, VA to her late parents Martha Lifsey Preddy and Fred Andrew Preddy, Sr. Growing up in Mt Airy, NC, she attended Mt. Airy High School (1964) and Mary Baldwin University (1967) where she earned a BA in Sociology. After graduation, Elizabeth was employed by the Atlanta School District, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Coca-Cola, Inc.
Her decades with Coca-Cola, Inc. afforded Elizabeth the opportunity to live and work in London, England. As Business Systems Director with Coca-Cola Greater Europe, she was responsible for a territory that ranged from Portugal to Russia. This base of operations enabled Elizabeth to travel to spots merely dreamt of by most. She accomplished the feat of traveling to every continent on earth and prided herself in "going everywhere the government would allow her to set foot and a couple they didn't know about".
An incredibly generous and philanthropic person, Elizabeth served in multiple areas throughout her life including the Advisory Board of Visitors at Mary Baldwin University, the Chapel Hill Historical Society, and the Compass Center for Women and Families also in Chapel Hill, NC. Elizabeth's lifelong interests included reading, tennis, politics, business, and her family and friends.
Elizabeth, in addition to her parents, was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Andrew Preddy, Jr. and wife Nancy, as well as a sister, Jean Preddy Hakel and husband Richard. She is survived by her brother Robert Michael (Mike) Preddy and wife Kathy of Harlingen, TX; three nieces, Robin Preddy Dawson, husband Mark of Winston-Salem, NC, Elizabeth Preddy Hilliard of Matthews, NC, and Tiffany Preddy Albury, husband Joseph of Harlingen, TX. She adored her four great-nieces and three great-nephews.
Due to Covid-19, there will not be services nor a visitation. In lieu of flowers, please consider either making donations to the Alzheimer's Association chapter in your community in honor of Elizabeth's mother or to the charity of your choice.
