MASON, Rex
Rex Ardell Mason, 81, of Fayetteville, Georgia passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021. Rex was born Sunday, May 26, 1940, to Rex Minor and Willie Byrd Mason in Atlanta. Rex is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Calvin Mason. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Phyllis Marchman Mason; his daughter, Connie (Sammy) Champion; son, Jonathan Rex (Betty) Mason; three grandchildren, Nicole Douglas, Jason Champion, and Makenzie Mason; and three great-grandchildren, Easton and Aly Douglas and Ryder Champion, and nieces and nephews. Rex was a retiree of Delta Air Lines and served in numerous positions throughout his 34-year career. After retirement from Delta, he worked for the Fayette County Board of Education for 10 plus years. He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby as well as hunting and fishing. A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Mowell Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
