MANRY, Mildred Lou Hammons

Mildred "Millie" Lou Hammons Manry, 74, of Ellenwood, GA, passed away at home on May 20, 2021, after battling stage 4 colon cancer. Millie was born in Springfield, Missouri to Rev. Virgil Brown Hammons (WWII Veteran) and Ruby Green Ayscue Hammons on November 24, 1946. Millie dedicated her life to education and was a teacher at Wheeler High School in Cobb County for 30 years where she taught US History and American Government to mostly 11th/12th grade AP classes. She retired in 1999 but couldn't stay away from the classroom and spent the next 21 ½ years as a part-time substitute in the Henry County High School system. Millie was known for her kindness, generosity and love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Kenneth Manry, as well as her daughter, Kara Manry; and son, Matthew Manry; as well as an extended family who loved her dearly. Her parents and brother, Mark Hammons, of Orlando, FL preceded her in death and the family knows that they are having a grand reunion in Heaven today. The family would like to thank her doctors and their staff at Georgia Cancer Specialists, Northside Hospital and the staff and nurses at Sacred Journey Hospice. If you would like to donate in Millie's memory, the family requests those be made to the Aflac Cancer Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. https://www.choa.org/medical-services/cancer-and-blood-disorders. Also, Millie's favorite holiday was Christmas so the family also suggests Clark's Christmas Kids: clarkschristmaskids.com
