Barbara Elaine Jackson Joiner was born to the late Fuller Lorenza and Sarah Elizabeth Glover Jackson November 1, 1939 in Atlanta. Barbara was baptized at Providence Baptist Church at an early age. She was educated in Atlanta Public Schools attending English Avenue Elementary and she a graduate of Henry McNeil Turner High School, class of 1957. After graduating high school, Barbara married her high school sweetheart, Wyatt E. Joiner Jr. and two daughters were from this union. Barbara worked at Scripto while attending Beauty School where she began Modeling for Bronner Brothers Annual Fashion Shows and Elizabeth Pitts House of Fashion, and she took classes from Carl & Barbara Fouch. She was known in the fashion world as "Lady Barbara". Barbara worked with her best friends Zilla Mays at WAOK and Dot Willis Wig Boutique were they sold wigs to celebrities Little Richard, Dionne Warwick and Patti LaBelle. In 1976 Barbara Co-founded the Fashion Group Redale of Atlanta with Fashion Fair Make-up Artist and Model, Tony Redale Banks. Barbara worked over 30 years for Draper-Kramer Properties as a Leasing Agent and Assistant Manager of the Continental Colony Apartments. Barbara was known for her immaculate dress with excellence style & class. She was a devout and dedicated mother and grandmother until her health began to decline and eventually becoming a double amputee. She will always be remembered as the neighborhood mother to many children and helped them anyway she could. Barbara was called home quietly in her sleep while in Home Hospice care surrounded by loving, family caring for her on September 2, 2021. She leaves her legacy of gifts, talents and love to cherish daughters, Chari Lynn "Porkey" Joiner and Toni Wyanetta Joiner Pollard Sanders; sons-in-law, George Sanders and Evans B. Pollard, grandsons Todd Wyatt Joiner-Davis, Evans Chad Pollard Sr. (Katrina), Troy Basil Pollard (Donae), Great-grandchildren; Evans Chad Pollard Jr., Tranae Kelis Pollard, Evani Chadsity Pollard, and Evana Charity Pollard; sister in law Betty J. Joiner-Townsend and brother in law John Butts; other family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. Celebration of Life Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 1 pm in our Cascade Chapel.
