Herring, Katharine

HERRING, Katharine Elizabeth "Kat"
Katharine was born May 15, 1958 at Emory University Hospital. She died suddenly from a fall in her Guyton, Georgia home on October 1, 2021, where she had lived since 2004. She was 63.
Kat's parents are Katharine "Fritzi" Yundt Herring and the late William Clifton Herring of Atlanta. She is survived by her mother and her siblings William Clifton Herring, Jr. and Lucy Yundt Herring, all of Atlanta. Kat's longtime partner Michael Anthony York died in 2017.
School years included Spring Street Elementary, The Lovett School, Grady High School, all in Atlanta, and the University of Georgia in Athens.
While in her teens, Kat worked part time in the box office of the Memorial Arts Center, now the Woodruff. This evolved into a 35 year career in event ticketing and management including the Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Flames, SEATS and Ticketmaster. As an Event Programming Manager, she worked closely with major sporting clubs and concert venues such as the Braves, Hawks, Falcons, Fox Theatre and Philips Arena, formerly The Omni and now State Farm Arena. She created lifelong friendships every place she worked.
Kat was an avid reader and music lover. She was known for her hearty laugh, wit and warm personality. This was reflected in the many comments and photos on social media about her life and the fun she shared with friends and coworkers.
Because she took in stray animals and gave them a loving home, donations can be made in Katharine's name to Furkids.org. A celebration of life will be held early next year.
Katharine, we will always miss you and keep warm our love for you.
