BURNS, Marie Stratford
Mrs. Strat (Marie Stratford Pressly) Burns, of Stone Mountain, died Wednesday, September 8, 2021. She was born in Canton, Georgia, and completed her education at Brenau College (now Brenau University), where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was mainly a homemaker, but also worked at Retail Credit and then Allied Systems in Decatur, Georgia. She was resident of the Smoke Rise residential area in Stone Mountain, GA, where she was a long-time member of Smoke Rise Baptist Church. She moved to Madison, AL, in 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, David Stratford Pressly and Marie Blackwell Pressly, and her husband, J. Christian Burns. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Stacey Burns of Madison, AL and grandchildren Kailyn and Zachary Burns; son and daughter-in-law Gareth and Jessica Burns of Kershaw, SC and grandchildren Georgia, Charlie, and Benjamin Burns. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 15 at 11 a.m. at Smoke Rise Baptist Church. Dr. Chris George will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Smoke Rise Baptist Church.
