Thomas Wilburn Barnett went Home Saturday, November 6, 2021 in Decatur, GA. He was born July 12, 1928 in Banks County, near Commerce, to Frank Lemuel and Agnes Brown Barnett. He was known as Tom in Decatur and Wilburn to his family. Tom graduated from Commerce High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Barbara Ann Rice in July 1957 in Commerce. Tom and Barbara moved to Decatur where he worked at General Motors Doraville and was a member of the United Auto Workers. He continued to farm with his father. Tom and Barbara were long time members of Valley Brook Baptist Church in Decatur. He was a Mason for over 50 years and a Shriner. Tom is survived by his son and daughter in-law, John Arthur Barnett and Kathie Thompson Barnett, of Bunn, NC as well as his brother, Calvin Barnett, of Carnesville, GA. He was predeceased by his parents and wife. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 9 from 3 - 6 PM at A.S. Turner & Sons, 2773 N Decatur Rd, Decatur, GA. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, November 10, at 11 AM at Valley Brook Baptist Church, 1198 N Valley Brook Rd., Decatur, GA 30033. A graveside visitation will be held from 2:30-3:00 PM with burial at 3 PM at Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce, GA. Services will be officiated by Pastors, Mike Roper and Craig Barnette. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Brook Baptist Church or Sacred Journey Hospice, 138 Peach Dr., McDonough, GA 30253. A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
