Police in Cherokee County returned Wednesday to the apartment complex where a rope noose and threatening notes were left at some residents’ doors. But investigators haven’t determined who is responsible, Canton police said.

On Friday, police were called to the Lancaster Ridge apartments on Hickory Knoll Road after a resident reported finding a note with profanity taped to the door, according to Officer Pacer Cordry. A piece of rope was also tied to the resident’s door knob, Cordry said.

Police returned to canvass the complex Wednesday, searching for tips or any witnesses.

“As Canton detectives were canvasing the apartment complex, they were able to locate four other residents, all in different apartment buildings, had received similar notes on their apartment doors,” Cordry said in an emailed statement.

None of the notes referenced the age, sex or nationality of the apartments’ residents, according to police.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Canton detectives at 770-720-4883.
