A Coweta County woman was found dead in a wooded area in central Florida, and officials said they are treating the incident as a suspicious death investigation.

A woman on her Friday morning walk spotted the body of 28-year-old Cheri Amber Houston of Newnan, said Lt. John Herrell with the Lake County Sherrif's Office.

Houston "was apparently a transient" with a history of drug abuse, he told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

"Over the last eight to 10 weeks," Herrell said, "she moved from Miami to Nashville, from Nashville to North Carolina, from North Carolina to the Atlanta area and from the Atlanta area to the Orlando area."

Detectives believe that Houston had been in the Orlando area since March 31. Herrell did not say how the woman died.

"We have not determined a cause of death," he said.

Anyone with information about Houston is asked to contact the Lake County Sheriff's Office at 352-343-2101 or the Central Florida CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS.
