Four Henry County teachers have been awarded grants this year through a Georgia Power Co. program aimed at helping first year teachers. The recipients receive a $1,000 check and other items and are: Michael Hock, a U.S. history teacher at Union Grove High School; Emily Mallory, a second grade teacher at Red Oak Elementary; Justin Griffitts, a kindergarten teacher at Red Oak Elementary; and Blake Fox, a fifth grade math and science teacher at Cotton Indian Elementary. Henry County Schools has had eight teachers recognized through this program in the last three years. The program has been in place since 2004.
