A 9-year-old boy from Fort Myers was arrested Monday after deputies said he hit his sister with an object and and brandished a butcher knife at her and his grandmother.

The incident was reported before 8:30 p.m. Monday when the grandmother, 71, said her grandson "became upset with her and his sister," the Fort Myers News-Press reports. The grandmother told deputies that the boy began striking his sister, 11, "on the head with his hands and a television remote control," according to the News-Press.

According to deputies, the boy struggled with his grandmother, got a knife and walked toward his sister and grandmother.  He "put the knife back after his sister called the police," according to the News-Press.

Deputies said both the sister and grandmother told them that “they were in fear for their lives when the boy was pointing the knife at them.” The sister said she wasn’t looking to get her brother in trouble and was just looking to “scare him,” theNews-Press reports.  The boy told deputies that “he knew what he had done and that it was wrong.”

He is set to appear in court to face two felony charges of aggravated assault, one a charge of battery on a person 65 or older.
