It's not every day a 3-year-old gets stopped for driving a motorized big wheel on the highway, but that's what happened in Florida Wednesday.

Police in Crystal River responded to the unusual call after callers said they spotted the boy attempting to enter traffic, according to ABC News.

Several drivers formed a blockade around the child at the median of U.S. 19. The toddler was only wearing a shirt and diaper but was covered with a blanket after adults reached him, according to police.

The boy's father says he left the child alone in the living room while he went to the bathroom. When he came out, he called for the boy but didn't hear anything. He then noticed the boy had used a chair to unlock the front door.

The father went searching for the boy and found him inside the motor blockade on the highway.

The case has been turned over to the Department of Children and Families.
