A 5-year-old girl is safe after she was nearly attacked by a coyote in her front yard, and the incident was captured on surveillance camera.
WLS reported Christine Przybylski, 5, walked to the mailbox of her family's Villa Park, Illinois, home to check to see if her Halloween costume came in. The item wasn't there, so she turned back toward the house.
A coyote was lurking nearby, WLS reported.
"I decided to go to the swing," Christine told the station. "When I went to the swing he run by and I was like, going, and then I was like, 'Oh my god.'"
The animal began to chase Christine, charging at her and coming close.
"I feeled its ear," she said. "It almost bited my rib."
Christine screamed and ran inside to her mother and told her what happened.
"He really pursued her violently, and I'm so glad she got away," the girl's mother, Elizabeth Przybylski, said.
Neighbors believe the animal came from a wooded area nearby, WLS reported.
Przybylski said her daughter won't be outside unsupervised going forward.
