Nathalys Rivera's parents, 31-year-old Carlos Rivera and 27-year-old Carmen Ramirez, were taken into custody Monday. Police say Carlos discovered his daughter in her room not breathing around midnight Monday. (Via WPVI)
Ramirez then took their daughter to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead around 2:00 a.m. Investigators say Nathalys showed “obvious signs of neglect.”

Nathalys, who was reportedly severely disabled, was a twin and had four other siblings, ages 7, 8, and 9. Officials took them to get checked out at a local hospital before being placed with human services.
NBC reports despite her disabilities, Nathalys hadn't been to a doctor in more than a year and there was at least one other incident with the family in which the Department of Human Services was involved.
Police had to take pictures of the second floor from the outside of the home because it was too dangerous to move around on the inside. Neighbors told WBRE the family usually stayed inside their home and the children weren't as social as the rest of the neighborhood kids.
In addition to the murder charge, Rivera and Ramirez have also been charged with involuntary manslaughter, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal conspiracy.
