A good Samaritan's wallet was stolen by someone she was trying to help.

Virgian Goddard said you have to be cautious, even when you do something that sounds like a simple good deed.

Goddard was leaving a doctor's appointment when she was a approached by a person asking for help getting to a store.

"I don't know how much is true or how much she was concocting to make me feel sorry for her," Goddard said.

She offered the woman a ride to Walmart. Goddard said the woman rode in the back seat and managed to steal Goddard's wallet out of her purse.

"She immediately went on a shopping spree at Walmart. It emptied my bank account," Goddard said.

Goddard said that the woman left her feeling helpless.

"I was shocked and I felt stupid because I am supposed to be an intelligent person," Goddard said.

Goddard said the wallet was a Christmas gift from her husband.

"I've never had a billfold that nice," Goddard said.

Security cameras did capture an image of the woman and Goddard hopes someone will recognize her.
