A 71-year-old woman was attacked by an alligator on Sunday evening, according to news reports.
The gator, believed to be 10 feet long, was in San Carlos Park near Florida Gulf Coast University, according to NBC2.
The woman was bitten on the arm and leg shortly before 6 p.m. in the gated community of Shadow Wood Preserve, according to the Fort Myers News Press.

She was flown to Lee Memorial Hospital.
Florida Fish & Wildlife officer Brian Norris told NBC2 that alligator attacks are very rare, but can occur when people feed the reptiles, causing them to associate food with humans.
Female alligators also lay their eggs during the summer, which can make them protective and aggressive, he added.
