The president and first lady gave a subtle nod to a national heart-disease awareness campaign as they arrived Friday for a weekend in Palm Beach.
First Lady Melania Trump wore a red split-sleeve dress and red flats and President Donald Trump donned a red tie as part of the "National Wear Red Day" awareness campaign. Trump signed a proclamation Thursday declaring February American Heart Month, and he implored "all Americans to wear red this Friday, February 3, 2017, to observe National Wear Red Day.
“Working together on National Wear Red Day, and throughout the year, we can raise awareness about heart disease and make our Nation healthier,” Trump said in the proclamation.
After nearly two weeks out of the spotlight, the first lady’s arrival at Palm Beach International Airport was the first time the couple has been seen together in public since the Jan. 20 inaugural events.

The first lady landed at Palm Beach International Airport in an Air Force jet a few minutes before the president landed in Air Force One. Melania Trump was met with cheers as she stepped onto the tarmac to meet her husband, whom she embraced and then joined as he greeted supporters.
The Trumps are expected to attend the 60th annual Red Cross Ball at Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club on Saturday night. But his visit is being met with protests. Two groups are hosting a march Saturday from Trump Towers in downtown West Palm Beach to an area just across the Intracoastal from Trump's estate.
