According to The Associated Press, Mosby is 35 and has been Baltimore's chief prosecutor for less than four months, the youngest of any U.S. major city, her official biography explains.

During her campaign she promised to hold police accountable, going so far, according to AP, of accusing the incumbent, Gregg Bernstein, of being too close with officers and out of touch with the residents of Baltimore.

Mosby is known for her slogan "our time is now," a statement that she has used since her swearing in.  During her speech, WBAL reported that she said in reference to the lack of trust between law enforcement and the community, "Our time to repair that trust, to come together collectively as a community, to start to break down the barriers to progress in our communities, is now."

Her statement has since been paraphrased by her and others, and was recently adopted by protestors since Gray's death.  She now promotes on her official Twitter page #OurTimeIsNow.

Mosby originally is from Boston and is married to Baltimore City Councilman Nick Mosby.

They met while students at Tuskegee University in Alabama.

She interned and clerked at the U.S. Attorney's offices in Boston and Washington before joining the Baltimore State's Attorney's Office in 2005, before leaving to work for an insurance company, according to her work history on her LinkedIn profile.

She ran for her first election last year, taking office in January, according to CNN.

During her news conference to announce the charges against six Baltimore police officers related to Gray's death, Mosby explained her relationship to the law enforcement community, citing that she comes from family history of police officers including her grandfather, uncles and her mother, CNN reported.

The attorney who is representing Gray's family is Billy Murphy and he has a connection with Mosby.

According to AP, Murphy was one of Mosby's biggest campaign contributors in 2014 , donating the maximum allowed of $4,000.  He was also on her transition team according to The Associated Press.
