She lived only 10 weeks, but when Jazmine Rose Robin died, her autopsy showed she had 96 fractures. Her father, Jason Robin Jr., has been charged with her murder.
Her mother, Katharine White, also faces a charge of injury to a child by omission.
As of Monday, neither were in police custody.
Jazmine's great-grandmother told KTRK whoever hurt and killed her great-granddaughter needs to be held accountable.
"It doesn't matter who it is. You need to be held responsible for the life of this child," Virginia White told KTRK. "I don't care if it's my daughter or my son. If you did it, you have to put on your big girl panties and take responsibility."
Virginia White did not have an opportunity to meet her great-grandchild before the baby died.
Jazmine had been born early, at just 29 weeks. After spending weeks in a local hospital, she was released to her parents on July 3, 2018, KTRK reported.
Nine days later, on July 14, she was taken to Pearland Memorial Hermann Hospital where officials said she had “clearly inflicted head trauma.”
Jason Robin and Katharine White said their daughter wouldn’t take a bottle and acted weird. They also said they attempted CPR when she stopped breathing about a week before she died.
But when she regained consciousness, Jason Robin and Katharine White didn't take Jazmine to the hospital. A roommate of the former couple said he told Jason Robin that Jazmine needed to go to the hospital but he refused, according to KTRK.
A pediatrician also told the parents that the little girl needed to go to the hospital days before she died, but the parents showed “no interest,” according to court records.
Autopsy results finalized in May showed that Jazmine had a skull fracture, nine contusions to her torso, broken ribs and other injuries to her arms and legs. In all, Jazmine had 96 fractures which included 71 to her ribs and 23 long bone fractures, KTRK reported.
The couple had an older child who is now in foster care. Katharine White also had a baby girl after Jazmine died. That baby is with a relative, the television station reported.
