Frightening footage of three horses struggling to stay afloat in rising floodwaters in Harris County, Texas, Monday had many worried for the animals' fate. The video shared by Spring Happenings, a local news site in Spring, shows rescuers attempting to lower boats into the floodwaters so as to reach the three horses attempting to keep their heads above water.

At one point in the video one of the horses appears to begin to float on his side but bystanders, including property owners, begin yelling the animal’s name and coaxing it toward them. The horse resurfaces and begins again to swim.

Although the fate of the animals isn't readily apparent in the 7-minute video, ABC 13 Eyewitness News reported good news. Officials with the Office of Emergency Management confirmed that none of the animals had died, and that although the rescue was still in progress, as of 2 p.m., the animals were not in grave danger. More than 70 horses had been moved to higher ground earlier in the day.

Southeast and Central Texas alike have suffered ongoing, torrential rainfall throughout the day, with Houston receiving 16 inches of rain in 24 hours.
