Albert Passavanti was lounging on the patio near the pool of his West Palm Beach home when his son, Rocco, wandered inside the gate of the pool in pursuit of an inflatable ball. There was one adult in the pool and two sitting outside, including himself, Passavanati told WPEC.

When the toddler slipped into the water, Passavanti sprang from his chair and executed a dive that would have made former Olympic champion Greg Louganis proud..

"The second you see it; you get Superman strength and just have to go for it," Passavanti told WPTV. "Whatever you got to do."

Passavant was certainly faster than a speeding bullet, as a video recorded on his Nest camera overlooking the pool showed. Passavanti posted the video on Facebook.

Passavanti said he never considered going around through the pool gate to jump into the water.

"It didn't even cross my mind to go around, it was point A to point B," Passavanti told WPTV.

“When I first saw that video, my mouth dropped to the floor, “Oh my goodness!” Anna Stewart, manager of the Drowning Prevention Coalition of Palm Beach County, told the television station.

Passavanti said he hopes his actions help raise awareness about pool safety.

"Heads-up parenting, watch what's going on. Keep your eyes on your kids," he told WPTV.
