Washington Zoo welcomes baby orangutan
Washington’s Smithsonian National Zoo welcomed a baby orangutan Monday.
Staff closed the Great Ape exhibit Wednesday so the mother and baby male Bornean orangutan could bond.
Mom, Batang, and her new baby are both doing well.
Batang gave birth to a male infant Bornean orangutan last night! Both he and his mom appear to be doing well. The Great Ape House is closed to give them time to bond. http://s.si.edu/2cc4O2y #OrangutanStory
