Twitter erupted with criticism toward Walmart after one user discovered a "Fat Girl Costumes" section of its website last Tuesday.
Walmart initially responded, briefly, saying, "Your comments and suggestions are important to us and help make Walmart even better."
That subsection remained active until just after noon Monday.
According to BuzzFeed, a Walmart spokesman said the company only heard of the problem Monday morning. "This never should have been on our site," the spokesman said. "It's unacceptable, and we apologize."
Walmart's site now redirects clicks to the "Women's Plus-Size Halloween Costumes" page.
