Virginia Greyhound station shooting: What we know now

Police responded to an active shooter situation at a Richmond, Virginia, Greyhound bus station at approximately 2:45 p.m. Eastern time Thursday.

According to authorities, four people were shot during the incident. A male shot a state trooper before two other officers opened fire on the suspect. Virginia State Trooper Chad Dermyer died Thursday evening. Two civilians were also injured. Authorities confirmed that the shooter is dead.

Police are urging the public to avoid the area.
