Viral photos capture bittersweet moment between daughters of slain Dallas officers

According to WFAA, Monica Vasquez is a family friend of Dallas police Officer Patrick Zamarripa, one of five officers killed by a sniper during a protest in the city last week. While at a memorial for the victims Monday, Vasquez snapped photos as the daughter of another fallen officer, Dallas police Sgt. Michael Smith, gave a handmade bracelet to Zamarripa's little girl in memory of their fathers.

Vasquez shared the photos with WFAA reporter Lauren Zakalik, who posted the images Tuesday on Facebook. By Wednesday morning, the post had been shared more than 1,000 times.

"These little girls are forever connected by this tragedy, but hopefully – eventually – comforted by the fact their fathers were heroes," the post reads.
