As most students in Florida prepare to start school next week, one lesson comes to mind: There's simply no substitute for hands-on learning.
A surveillance camera at a Pembroke Park liquor store shows one young girl getting an "A" in the finer points of shoplifting, thanks to some on-the-job training by an adult woman with her.
The video clearly shows the woman showing the girl which bottle of tequila to pick up before walking away. The girl grabs the large bottle, begins to walk away, realizes it's too heavy and returns. She then gets a smaller bottle, puts it behind her back, waits until the woman blocks the clerk's view and slowly backs out of the store.
According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, customers at the store Tuesday told the clerks that the girl had stolen a bottle of liquor, identified as a 750 ml bottle of 1800 Silver tequila. The clerks confronted the woman, who then went out to a car, returned and said the girl hadn't stolen anything, according to police.
"When you think you've seen it all, you haven't seen nothing yet," Paul Moutsatsos, the store owner, told CBS Miami. "This is child neglect. The way she did it looked like it really wasn't the first time."
Broward County detectives are now searching for a black female with black hair who was last seen wearing a gray tank dress and sandals. She also has tattoos on her upper shoulders and upper back.
Police estimate the girl to be about 7 years old, a black female with braids and beads in her hair. She was last seen wearing black pants, a pink white top and sandals carrying a pink purse.
