A Florida police officer was called on Jan. 15 after a resident said local kids we were playing too loud -- but instead of breaking up the small basketball game, he joined in.
The video, which was initially posted on the Gainesville Police Department Facebook, has been viewed more than 12 million times with over 274,000 shares as of Saturday. In the video, Officer Bobby White is seen approaching the teens and questioning why someone would report this before taking the ball and joining them in a quick game.
“Can you believe someone's calling to complain about kids playing basketball in the street?” White says in the video, taken from his dashcam. “Can you believe that?”
In the video, the Gainesville Poilce Department states, "We're going to let kids be kids."
Before leaving, White throws down a dunk and asks the kids to watch their noise levels so he doesn’t have to come back.
While this video went viral, the story gets better.
"It's cool that they think it's great, but at the same time it's a little sad that they don't realize that this is what we do," White told the Gainesville Sun. "I didn't do anything great. It's what a lot of cops do every day."
