Tourists are flocking to a remote Japanese island where cats outnumber humans 6 to 1, according to The Washington Post.
Aoshima Island – known as "Cat Island" to locals – has more than 120 feral cats, no stores and no cars.
The felines were introduced to the mile-long island to combat mice on fishing boats, but their population has exploded. (NBC News)
Though most are feral, the cats survive predominantly on food – like energy bars or rice balls – from visiting tourists. (The Independent)
