A military veteran's dog reported stolen a week ago was returned safely over the weekend.

TJ, an 8-month-old German shepherd, was stolen from the front yard Monday night, Angela Torres told authorities.

The theft was caught on surveillance video, although Torres said she didn't know until Tuesday morning that TJ was missing.

The culprit had to be someone with whom TJ was familiar, Torres told KTLA.

"She's part of our family, and mostly it's more important for her to come back for my husband, because he suffers from PTSD and she's been really good to him," Torres told KABC.

Her husband, Francisco Torres, is an Iraq war veteran. He said TJ has changed his life in just the few months that they have been together.

"I train her. She keeps me busy," he told KABC.

TJ was returned in good shape to the Torreses' home on Saturday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department

No arrests have been made and sheriff's officials have said that the incident is not a crime, according to KTLA. Investigators filed a "suspicious circumstances" report.
