A married Utah couple have been ordered to give up their infant foster daughter.
Beckie Peirce and her wife, April Hoagland, were told by Utah 7th District Court Juvenile Judge Scott Johansen that the child must be removed from their care.
According to Hoagland, the judge said, "he has research to back that children do better in heterosexual homes," reports the Salt Lake Tribune.

The women are approved foster parents in Utah and have passed home inspections, background checks and interviews.
"We are shattered," Hoagland told KUTV.
The couple say that the biological mother wants the baby to stay with them.
Johansen ordered the baby removed from their house in seven days.
