Stephanie Balacco doesn't care what people say -- she loves Possum anyway.
The strange-looking feline came into Balacco's life after a littler of kittens was born in a coworker's backyard.
The other, normal-looking domestic shorthair cats were adopted. However, Possum was going to be taken to a shelter known for its high kill rate.
"I felt and still feel like she would have been euthanized if she went there," Balacco told The Dodo.
Although she already had a couple of cats, Balacco decided to adopt Possum, as well. It took some time settling in, but everyone gets along.
"I love her sweet personality. I've only heard her hiss once, and that was after a bull mastiff stuck his head right in front of her carrier," Balacco said. "She's never swiped at me, no matter how much I annoy her with embarrassing sweaters."
