Two mothers in two different states are both in trouble with the law after they left young children locked in hot cars.
Sheriff's officers in Hackensack, New Jersey, had to break the window of a car after they were alerted that a little girl was locked in the vehicle with the windows up.
A female officer climbed in to rescue the girl.
Less than a minute later, the mother walked up with another child strapped into a shopping cart.
The mother, identified as Chaeyoung Lim-Kim, was charged with child endangerment and was released, WPVI reported.
The child, who was crying and covered in sweat, was treated at a local hospital and was released into her father's custody.
Earlier this week, a mother in Oklahoma was accused of leaving her 1-year-old locked in a hot car for 45 minutes as she shopped.
Hanna Secondi was arrested after witnesses called police to report the child in the car with the doors locked and windows rolled up, FOX 23 reported.
The witnesses rescued the child, who was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated.
Police found Secondi as she left the store. She asked if her child had died and said she had forgotten the child in the car when she went into the store, authorities said.
Secondi was arrested on a complaint of child neglect.
