Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was rushed off stage by Secret Service agents after a man tried to rush the stage during a speech in Nevada.
Officers in riot gear removed the man, later identified as Austyn Crites of Reno, on Saturday, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.
"Immediately in front of the stage, an unidentified individual shouted 'gun,'" officials said in a statement. "Upon a thorough search of the subject and the surrounding area, no weapon was found."
Trump came back on stage to continue speaking.
"Nobody said it was going to be easy for us. But we will never be stopped," Trump said, according to CBS News.
Crites told KTVN that all he had was a sign that said "Republicans Against Trump," not a weapon. He said people in the crowd punched and kicked him.
"I am very thankful for the law enforcement who was able to quickly come," Crites said. "Had they not been there, it's possible these people could have strangled me and killed me right there."
Meanwhile, Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., retweeted a post that incorrectly suggested that the incident was an "assassination attempt." The retweet was later deleted.
