A community in southeastern Wisconsin wants to turn a former strip club into a Christian school.
The Ozaukee Christian School is applying to the town of Trenton to rezone the former Spearmint Rhino Gentlemen's Club for a school, according to WISN-TV.
The school’s president, David Swartz, says they’ve spent a lot of time on this project.
"It's been a long two years to get there, but it's been a very rewarding two years," Swartz told WISN.
The school closed on the property last week, and Swartz said he’s looking forward to turning the old club into an educational facility.
He said he wants the school to educate future leaders, and he’s hopeful that can happen in a place where once “Women were turned into objects.”
School leaders are working to raise more than $1 million to finalize the purchase, and the town is expected to consider the rezoning request next month.
If all goes as planned, the new school could open in August.
