Five people were killed in a possible traffic accident and two other were reported dead at a gas station, according to The Dallas Morning News. An infant also died, according to CBS DFW.

Damage and injuries from the storms have swept through parts of north Texas in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including Rowlett, DeSoto and Garland, according to The Dallas Morning News.

Anthony Bain, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, told The Associated Press two or possibly three tornadoes touched down in the Dallas area although the full extent of damage would not be known until daylight Sunday.

Reports of the first tornado came in around 5 p.m. Another was spotted around 7 p.m.

The twisters, along with the hard pounding rain could cause major flooding from north Texas through eastern Oklahoma, eastern Kansas, western Arkansas and Missouri.

High water was reported at several major intersections in parts of Dallas, according to The Dallas Morning News.

The weather also delayed and diverted flights from Dallas Love Field as well as Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, according to The Dallas Morning News.
