Zillow based their list on four criteria – the value of homes in single-family residences, local crime data, the proximity of each house and age of residents.

“This data combines to give us the safest cities to trick or treat, where trick-or-treaters can get the best candy, in the least amount of time,” the website states.

California made high marks on the list with three of its cities in the top three. San Francisco ranked No. 1 for the fifth time in a row according to Zillow. San Jose, Calif., and Los Angeles came close behind at No. 2 and 3.
