The death of an Oklahoma toddler illuminates the danger of batteries.
Brianna Florer had a "perfect Christmas," according to her grandfather, Kent Vince.
The Oklahoman reports that Brianna was throwing up and running a low-grade fever for a couple of days.
On Sunday, she vomited blood and her skin turned blue.
Her parents, Brian Florer and Stephanie Florer, called an ambulance and the 2-year-old was rushed to the hospital after vomiting a large amount of blood.
An X-ray showed Brianna ingested a small lithium battery.
"They operated on her for two-and-a-half hours, but they couldn't stop the bleeding. They believed the battery ate through to her carotid artery by way of her esophagus," Vince said.
"One minute she is perfect, and the next minute she is dead. We had no idea when she swallowed (the battery)," Vince said.
Brianna's grandmother, Shanna Vice, posted on Facebook that a funeral for the toddler will be held Jan. 2.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with funeral costs.
